Below you find some of our favorite toys for kids around 6+ months!
This might go down as one of the twins’ favorite toys! One of my twins loves to tunnel under things. My other twin loves to play peek-a-boo and shake the tent. I have the best memories with my kids and this tent! It folds up easily and I throw it under the couch. It is our most played with toy.
Soft and Safe Blocks
These have lasted through three boys and they don’t look like they have been played with. They are extremely durable and wipe off easily. Gross but true, I have a child with reflux, he spits up constantly. I just wipe them down with soap and water and they are good as new. At around 8 months old, my twins started to race to knock over the towers we built. My oldest likes to build them as high as he can before one of his brothers knocks it down. The bright patterns and colors draw my babies to them. These are a toy I don’t worry about my teething babies chewing on or knocking over. It was one of the first toys my husband and I actually wanted to play with. Baby toys can be boring! It is a bit more expensive, but I promise it is a great investment. My son is almost 4 and still loves when we get these out.
Hands down this is my favorite baby toy! My oldest loved these and so do my twins. My twins are loving stacking them. They love shaking them too! I love watching my youngest and his determination to get three stacked on each other with these. My twins are almost one and fight over them! They are a great price too!
I love rolling the ball back and forth with my twins. They are over a year old and love to sit on the floor and roll it back and forth. We love this one because it is easy to grip.
This is great to have on hand when your baby is ready to walk with support. My kids were so proud to push this around! The great part is the toy can detach to play with when your baby is still sitting!
We have both of these. They were a big motivator for my kids to stand up and cruise around the table. My youngest loves things that light up. He was about a month or two behind his twin pulling himself up and standing. When I put these out, within a day my other one pulled himself up to see what it was all about! It was a big motivator!
These teethers are a lifesaver! I keep a couple at my changing table and one in my purse. My twins are at the “fun” stage (make you want to drink at 9 am) where they are constantly turning while you change their diapers. I keep one of these on the changing table and it is a lifesaver!
Take Along Tunes
This thing got me through many Target trips and meltdowns. I actually received two of these at my baby shower for my oldest. It is magical!
This is a toy that will grow with your child. I love using it to show cause-and-effect. It is great for visual tracking. At 15 months my twins are still loving this! You can work on words like ball, push, down, and out.
My kids love putting toys in the back as well as seeing the ball pop into the back of the truck. When they start walking the toy becomes even more fun! My son would pull it all around the house! I actually knotted up the cord when mine were younger, the string seemed pretty long. This is a great toy that has years of rocks and dirt in its future! It is a great price point for a gift!
It is funny to watch your child imitate you. When my son was a bit older he was babbling on his phone and walking around like he was the boss! Around 15 months this phone caused a lot of fights with my twins.
This was the best decision I ever made! When I was pregnant with my oldest I registered for a more cost-effective high chair. It was awful. Like it gave me panic attacks because there were so many places the crumbs would hide. After we made the decision that we wanted another baby, I had my husband promise he would make me buy a new high chair. I am notorious for talking myself out of things. My husband is the sweetest and literally never tells me no when I am trying to decide on a purchase. Guess what… surprise, we had twins! We got two of these and it is the best investment. You can easily take out the straps and soak them in the sink. The seat does not let crumbs go under it! When the twins were 15 months I was able to use the “hair dresser button” and lower the highchair to reach the table without using the tray. Truly it made the twins feel more included and I see them look around and notice how we are using utensils, drinking from cups, and simple behaviors we take for granted at a table. I can’t even begin to tell you how much I love it! Do it, invest in it. You will thank me! When people come over they are always fascinated by these!
This is a great toy that will serve many purposes. It is fun to watch how this toy grows with the child. It will start off as a teething toy, then they will begin to drop the pieces in the open container. Next, they will be old enough to learn where to put the pieces. The entire time you have this toy you will be able to use simple vocabulary and move to the shapes and colors of the pieces. You might also catch them using the first one as a purse. This is a great spin on an old-school toy. This is another toy that will serve many purposes along the way.
Bath Stack and Pour Buckets
We love these bath cups! They have dual purposes in our house. We use them in the bathtub and some in our water table. They are an adorable gift! To be honest, I am traumatized after they did a special about the mold that grows in the bath toys. I literally can’t do cute little ducks or water animals that squirt water. These are a lifesaver because they can be thrown in the dishwasher and sanitized! Plus, this is an adorable addition to an Easter basket, stocking, or a gift!
There are holes where the water can drain out. It is a toy that will easily amuse a baby or toddler! You pull the cord and the monkey takes off!
This “Baby Ferris Wheel” toy keeps my twins busy for a long time in restaurants. It sticks to the table and it is mesmerizing! This is a great baby shower gift. It is one new parents do not think to add, but it is invaluable! I have it in our restaurant busy bag. We’ve had it for almost 4 years.
Car Toy with Handle
One of my twins had the most adorable one leg side scoot as he wheeled this down our hallway. It is easy to grip, and little hands love these!
My twins love this! It is small, safe, and fun! Sometimes we put all the pillows in a pile and they slide into it. You could also use this in a ball pit. It has been used as a car ramp too! I couldn’t stop laughing when I saw my twins going down it face first. We are in trouble!
VTech Train/Giraffe Ride on
The train has so many amazing features! It is a riding toy and walker, it also teaches letters and counting! My twins got this around 9 months and loved it! This is great for babies that can sit up and up to 3 years of age! I personally loved putting the Lego bricks in the top and watching them pop into the caboose. My oldest child far exceeds the weight limit, but he rides it all around the house. What we loved about this is it has so many things to keep them busy. I am always a fan of toys that grow with my children. The giraffe is a newer version of the ride on toy we have. I have so many fun memories pushing my boys around the house and down our front hall. The giraffe is my favorite because it is the easiest to get on and off and we have the best memories with it!
All 3 of my kids have loved putting things in containers. This set is adorable and grows with your child! It is a great price point for a gift! It is fun to use for dramatic play as they get a bit older.
This one is my absolute favorite baby invention. Hands down! I bought one after having twins. It is super easy to put up and down. It folds up like a travel chair for sporting games. I was surprised how sturdy it is. There are times where you need them contained for their safety and your sanity. This is great when you are answering the door, making dinner, cleaning up, attending your child’s sporting events, doing yard work, etc. My mom, mother-in-law, and friends have all bought it after witnessing how much of a lifesaver it is. Just throw some toys in and BOOM! You have earned 15 minutes to get something done. This is a gift for the parents and grandparents that keeps on giving. I bought it without a canopy. In hindsight, the canopy would have been beneficial. They have a half canopy or full. Either way, you are winning with this!
