These toys are great for anyone on-the-go! I created a restaurant bag for my oldest. You can store these items in a small book bag or cosmetic bag. You can take it to restaurants, airports, doctor appointments, hotels, or car rides! I have a rule that it is only for on-the-go! My oldest begs to play with it at home. That is what makes this so amazing! I have it in the back of my car and pull it out. It has saved me on so many occasions.
A drive home from vacation is the absolute worst. I feel like I need a vacation from my vacation! Be prepared and save a good number of toys for the dreaded ride home. Another tip I recently learned, take off your child’s shoes right when they get in the car. It becomes a mess underneath them and this is super helpful for quick stops. Also be sure to have some carsick supplies handy in case. I remember a car trip where my niece threw up everywhere when she was little. It was awful. It was a first time for that. We had to stop and find a place to buy supplies to clean it up. I have included a list of items at the bottom of this post.
Travel Tray- This is softer for the safety of your child, but firm enough to play on.
Scratch Art- 5+
No Mess Markers-Only works on the paper!
Kahootz Fashion plates
Writing fun! You can use this to practice spelling words or have them trace the templates that come with it.
Travel Transportation Set
Tegu 8 Piece Set- It is pricey, but it has amazing reviews!
Water Wow- The Water Wow kept my son busy for 45 minutes! It dries and you can “color” it all over again! It has a cult following for a reason!
Wikki Stixs- My students love using these for practicing their spelling words or making pictures! They are waxy bendable sticks and fun to use at a restaurant.
Magnetic Tins- This is not for children who put things in their mouth. 3+
Lego Carrier- We have a set similar to the red one. I love that the base plate is included for on-the-go fun!
Colorforms- These stick to car windows! They came with a carrying case that unfolds to create your own scene. My son has a Spiderman one with a handle at the top which makes it easy to carry. I was surprised at how durable the reusable stickers are. I tried and they do not rip! I love that they have different character sets.
Mini Figures- These are my oldest child’s favorite! He loves mixing and matching sets. The ocean creatures would be a fun theme if you are traveling to the beach. My son begs to play with the space set. It would be a cute gift to pair with a space book!
Mini Diggers and Pull Back Cars
Blocks- Put some in a small Ziploc or plastic container. Not many blocks are needed. That is when creativity comes into play. We love playing with these at a restaurant.
Dress Up Magnets-3+
Plush Pets- My kids love putting toys in containers. They love these!
Buckle Toy- These are so popular and have perfect reviews! I have it on our holiday gift list. You can even attach it to a shopping cart for your child while you shop blissfully through Target 🙂
These are basically a fidget toy for babies! Let’s face it. It is hard to keep a baby busy on a card ride.
Peek-a-boo Fish- This is great for sensory play. They have different textures and surfaces. Your baby will love chewing on the tail!
Soft books- Your baby will love the interactive nature of these books.
